Commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Catastrophe of Smyrna and the choir's 25th anniversary, An Eastern Odyssey brought together Byzantine ecclesiastical music and the folk traditions of Asia Minor in one defining evening.
Part I — Echoes of Tradition
Byzantine chants and ecclesiastical music. Haunting vocal drones intertwine with ancient melodies, creating a mesmerising tapestry of sound that reaches across two millennia.
Part II — A Tale of Love, Tragedy & Hope
Folk music inspired by the Asia Minor Catastrophe — exploring narratives of courage, love, tragedy and the unbreakable spirit of a displaced people seeking a new home.
