A custodian of 2,000 years of musical tradition. Eighteen voices performing Byzantine chant — recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

About the Choir

Voices That
Span Centuries

Founded in 1998, the Australian Byzantine Choir was established with a mission to spread the transcendent beauty of Byzantine chant — a living tradition born in the Byzantine Empire and carried forward by eighteen dedicated voices in Sydney.

Our ensemble is drawn from parishes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. Beyond performing, we train parish chanters, run community seminars, and engage in charitable service.
